About
A coach for the practice you already do
Swingman started at a UK driving range with a simple frustration: hundreds of balls a month, a launch monitor's worth of numbers, and no clearer idea of what to work on at the end of it.
Why it exists
Launch monitors have become affordable and good. What hasn't kept up is what happens after the numbers appear. Most apps show you a screen of data and a simulator course, and leave the diagnosis to you. Coaches do the diagnosis well, but a lesson is an hour a month and practice is the rest of the time.
Swingman sits in that gap. It reads the monitor you already own, applies the ball-flight laws and established coaching knowledge to find the fault behind your misses, gives you a drill, and then does the thing a coach can't do when they're not there: measures whether the drill is working, set by set, and tells you when to move on.
What it is
- A coach, not a sensor. Ball and club data come from your launch monitor over GSPro Open Connect or a CSV export. Swingman adds the diagnosis, the drill and the measurement.
- A logbook with footage. A phone behind the ball catches every swing and keeps it beside its numbers, in sets, so you can see what changed as well as read it.
- Rules you can read. Every diagnosis comes from a written rule with a threshold and a test. When the coach is wrong, the rule is corrected, and it gets better for everyone.
- In the browser. Nothing to install. Open it on a phone at the range or a laptop beside the net.
- Yours. Your data exports in one tap and is never behind a paywall. No ads, no trackers, nothing sold on.
Where it is
Swingman is in private beta in the UK, in weekly use at a driving range and growing by invitation. The blog covers how it's built and what we learn; the privacy page says exactly what is stored and for how long.
